Fiber Mesh products for strength and durability. Fiberglass fiber strands can be added to ready-mix concrete to assist in strengthening regular concrete. Fiber reinforced concrete aids in prevention of surface cracks in concrete slabs providing that proper ground preparations have been performed.

Super Plasticiser A high range water reducing admixture. Adding too much water to a concrete mix will reduce its strength and integrity. Super Plastisizer will provide workability to freshly placed concrete and allows a higher slump to be used without compromising strength.

Calcium Chloride An admixture designed to accelerate hydration reaction in freshly poured concrete during cold weather months. The result is a quicker set time so that finishing work can be accomplished relatively sooner than without the use of an accelerator. Not recommended to be used with steel reinforced concrete.

Non-Calcium Cholride An admixture designed to accelerate hydration reaction in freshly poured concrete during cold weather months. This product works similarly as calcium chloride but has no adverse effects on embedded steel reinforcements. Non-Chloride calcium is the preferred accelerator for most contractors.

Air Entrained Concrete Air entrainment in concrete creates small porous voids that allow for expansion and contraction of moisture during freeze and thaw cycles. Without the presence of air entrainment the pressures of freezing water will cause significant damage and dramatically decrease the life of the concrete. The use of air entrained concrete is required when concrete is to be placed where it is subject to freeze and thaw cycles. All concrete batched at Britton Industries is air entrained unless otherwise requested by the customer, there is no extra charge for air entrainment.

Retarder An admixture designed to delay the reaction of ready-mix concrete in warmer weather. The delay allows time for proper placement and finishing of fresh concrete before it begins to cure. On warmer or windy days water will evaporate quickly from freshly poured concrete. This accelerated condition can cause concrete to cure too quickly which can compromise the integrity of the concrete and it may also become difficult to finish. Along with other standard practical procedures to prevent concrete from curing too rapidly, the use of retarder allows for some additional time to properly place and finish the fresh concrete.
